Enjoy a relaxing South Devon escape with family, friends and up to two dogs at this traditional and welcoming cottage in the heart of the picturesque village of Shaldon. Sleeping up to three guests, it’s perfectly placed for exploring the beach, village pubs, cafés and the beautiful South West Coast Path, all within easy reach.
Inside, the cottage combines traditional character with comfortable modern touches. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating, a Smart TV with DVD player and an open fire, making it a lovely place to unwind after a day exploring the coast. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering stay, including an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer. There’s also a dining area where you can enjoy relaxed meals together.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. The comfortable king-size bedroom has its own Smart TV, while the second bedroom has a single bed and a pull-out bed, making it particularly suitable for children. Downstairs, there is a shower room without a WC, with a separate WC also provided.
Families are well catered for, with a travel cot, stairgate and highchair available on request. Outside, the front patio provides a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy a morning coffee or a drink after a day exploring. Two dogs are welcome too, making this a great base for enjoying the many dog-friendly walks and beaches around Shaldon and the surrounding South Devon coast.
The cottage is ideally located for discovering everything Shaldon has to offer. The village shop is around half a mile away, while a pub is conveniently situated right next door. Wander through the village and you’ll find cafés, a bakery, restaurants, dog-friendly pubs and the beautiful Shaldon Botanical Gardens. The beach is just a short walk away, while Ness Cove Beach and the South West Coast Path provide plenty of opportunities for coastal walks and adventures.
For keen walkers, the South West Coast Path offers spectacular scenery. Follow the trail towards Maidencombe, passing the golf course and discovering a series of secluded coves and beautiful coastal viewpoints along the way. Teignmouth is also easily accessible by passenger ferry, while Torquay and the wider South Devon countryside are within easy reach for days out.
Free on-road parking is available nearby. You can park along the lane at the rear of the cottage or in Salty Lane. There is also a short-stay car park at the end of St George’s Playing Field, while a larger car park at The Ness, above the village, is approximately a 15-minute walk from the cottage. Please note that the Shipwrights Arms car park is for patrons only.
The cottage will be decorated for Christmas, making it a particularly cosy choice for a festive getaway. Arrival is from 4pm onwards, with departure by 10am.
