A beautiful waterside cottage with wonderful views across the River Teign.

11 Riverside is a rather special place to stay, sitting right on the waterside in the heart of Shaldon, with the River Teign right outside and wonderful views across the estuary.

The real star of the house is the bespoke beachside sunroom. With its fully glazed frontage, it looks straight out over the river and opens up to let the outside in on warm summer days. In winter, the underfloor heating ensures a warm and comfortable space to enjoy dining, sit with a coffee, have a glass of wine or simply watch the boats come and go. There’s a dining table seating six, a mini bar with a microwave, fridge and freezer, and lots of glasses ready for entertaining.

Outside, the terrace has loungers and chairs, making it an ideal spot for relaxing beside the water.

On the ground floor, there’s a spacious sitting room with TV, bar/reception and a comfortable 4ft sofa bed. Along the hall there is a double bedroom with a 4ft6 bed, skylight and French doors opening onto a small outside space. The downstairs family bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower, together with a WC and basin. There’s also a handy office room with French doors, a desk and chair, making the cottage suitable for anyone who needs to keep in touch with work while away. (There is a Miele washing/drying machine in the cupboard.)

Upstairs, the generous living space makes the most of the views, with three large windows overlooking the River Teign, two sofas and a dining table seating five. It’s a lovely room for relaxing together, whatever the weather.

A single step leads to the sleeping area, where you’ll find a luxurious superking-size bed, a TV and cleverly concealed storage and an ensuite bathroom. Privacy curtains can be drawn to create a more intimate bedroom space while still retaining the suite’s open, airy character. Waking up to the river outside your window is one of the little luxuries that makes this cottage so memorable.

The well-equipped kitchen has a large hob, steam oven, second oven and a plate warmer, a large fridge freezer and under-counter freezer, a microwave, 2 cafetieres and a Quooker Tap.

For those arriving by boat, there is mooring for one boat, together with tie-up points on the beach wall for a tender — a particularly special feature for anyone wanting to explore the river and coastline by water.

There is parking for one car opposite the cottage, as well as a private garage behind King George V Car Park (approximately a 5-minute walk), giving you two parking spaces in total.

And if you don’t want to leave your four-legged friend behind, one well-behaved dog is welcome at the owner's discretion.

With the river literally on your doorstep, beautiful views, its own waterside terrace and the wonderful atmosphere of Shaldon just outside, 11 Riverside is a perfect choice for a relaxing Devon escape throughout the year.
