Oyster Cottage is a delightful 19th-century cottage in one of Shaldon’s most enviable positions, overlooking the village green and just moments from the beach and water’s edge. Beautifully renovated and furnished with a fresh contemporary nautical theme, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy everything this charming South Devon village has to offer.

The cottage is arranged in reverse-level style, with the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor and the main living space upstairs. This makes the most of the lovely views across the village green, towards the estuary and out to sea. Upstairs, the open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area is light, comfortable and sociable, with sliding doors opening onto a Juliet balcony. It is an ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, plan the day ahead or simply watch village life unfold below.

The sitting area has a smart 4K TV and comfortable seating, while the sofa bed can accommodate an additional guest or two, allowing Oyster Cottage to sleep up to six guests in total. The dining table seats up to six, and the well-equipped kitchen includes an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and all the essentials for a relaxed self-catering stay. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and free Wi-Fi.

Downstairs are two cosy bedrooms. The main bedroom has a comfortable double bed, quality bedding and a large fitted wardrobe, with space available for a travel cot if required. The second bedroom has full-sized bunk beds, making it ideal for children, teenagers or additional adult guests, together with its own small walk-in wardrobe.

The modern bathroom continues the cottage’s coastal theme, with subtle inspiration taken from shells and pebbles. It features a particularly spacious walk-in shower, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail. A combi boiler provides plenty of hot water on demand after a day on the beach or exploring the coast.

Outside, you can pull up close to the cottage to unload, and there is free parking around the green, along with additional local parking and larger car parks nearby. With so much within easy walking distance, you may find there is little need to use the car once you have arrived.

Oyster Cottage is perfectly placed for enjoying Shaldon. The sandy beach is less than 100 metres away, and the village’s independent shops, cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs are all close by, including the popular London Inn just across the green. Take the passenger ferry across the river to Teignmouth, spend an afternoon crabbing or exploring the shoreline, wander through the famous Smugglers Tunnel, or simply enjoy a drink and watch the world go by.

For families, there is plenty nearby to discover, including Shaldon Wildlife Trust’s small zoo, the botanical gardens and children’s play areas. The Ness and the South West Coast Path are also within easy reach, offering some wonderful walks and spectacular views along the Devon coastline.
