This beautiful dog-friendly self-catering holiday cottage, situated in the seaside village of Shaldon, South Devon, has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard and is situated in a prime location close to the beach and in the heart of the village. The property benefits from a beautiful enclosed courtyard with plants, a coffee table and chairs.
Ground floor: The living area has seating for four and a wall-mounted TV with Freeview. The well-equipped kitchen has a ceramic hob and electric oven/ grill, a microwave, toaster, kettle, ceramic sink/drainer, a washing machine and under worktop fridge with an ice compartment, iron and board. The window overlooking the courtyard has a window seat. Bedroom 1: A double bedroom with a window through to Arch Street and a TV with Freeview.
First floor: The sleeping area has a double bed and double sofa, TV with Freeview and storage units. The window overlooks Middle Street. The good sized bathroom- bath with shower over it and mixer taps, WC and sink. Heated chrome towel rail.
Sailmaker’s Cottage is a perfect haven to relax and an ideal holiday location for exploring the unspoilt beauty of the local area and the many attractions of South Devon.
Please note: One small well-behaved dog is welcome with the owner’s consent. Please enquire at the time of booking. Sailmaker's is a small “fisherman’s cottage” built with cobstones and has few straight walls and ceilings! The stairs are steep and the ceilings are low which gives Sailmaker’s Cottage its charm but may be unsuitable for some. Strictly No Smoking or Vaping.
Things to do in Shaldon:
Explore the village: Take a stroll around Shaldon's narrow streets and alleyways, lined with colourful cottages, shops, pubs and restaurants.
Visit the beach: Shaldon has a lovely beach, known as Ness Cove, which is accessible via a smugglers’ tunnel through the cliffs. There are also several other beaches nearby, including Teignmouth Beach.
Go crabbing: The Shaldon Wildlife Trust organises crabbing sessions for children, a fun activity to do at the nearby rock pools.
Visit Shaldon Zoo: The Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a small zoo that focuses on the conservation of rare and endangered species, including primates, birds, and reptiles.
Take a walk on the South West Coast Path: Shaldon is located on the South West Coast Path, a long-distance walking trail that offers stunning views of the Devon coastline.
Visit the Homeyards Botanical Gardens: The Botanical Gardens are located on a steep hillside overlooking the village and offer beautiful views of the estuary.
Visit the nearby town of Teignmouth: A lovely seaside town with a Victorian pier, a lido, and plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Regatta week (late August): This is a week-long festival of water and
land-based activities that take place in and around Shaldon. The events
include sailing races, sandcastle competitions, a grand procession, a
fun run and a spectacular fireworks display over the river.
