Our happy place!
This was our fourth stay at Beach Hut 1 in Shaldon and we really enjoyed our time there. It’s well-appointed, clean and comfortable and has lovely views of the river. The Clipper café next door is a bonus, serving tasty food and drinks at good prices. The gate in the garden wall leading to the café is very handy! We find the people of Teignmouth to be very friendly and had a wonderful meal at the Trade Winds restaurant in the town. The beach hut offers everything we need for a getaway from our busy lives in Kent and it’s a perfect place to relax. Take the river ferry from the beach to Teignmouth and explore the local shops and bars. We look forward to a return visit - or maybe more - in 2025. Thanks to the team at Cottages South West for all your help this year. Nick and Isabelle.
Wonderful relaxing stay
Had a fantastic stay at Beach Hut number 1. To sit with a cuppa on the patio watching the world go by was bliss and we were able to enjoy the beach and sea every day and then come back and relax in the Hut. All the modern conveniences were great but being right next door to the fantastic Clipper cafe meant we were able to treat ourselves to some wonderful meals. Really couldn’t have wished for more, one of our best holidays ever. Thank you for making Beach Hut 1 so special.

Great weekend at beach hut 1. Boys loved crabbing off the jetty and jumping in. We didn’t need to leave the hut or court yard the whole weekend, everything on the doorstep. Surprisingly roomy and everything you need done to high spec. We will definitely stay again.
Relaxing break
Second time at Beach Hut 1 but have stayed at one of the huts for each of past 4 years. Location perfect as you open the gate onto the beach and yet can stay on the patio area watching world go by with regular top up wine visits from Clipper Cafe next door!! Hut is compact obviously and always hit my head on the ceiling upstairs and the extractor downstairs!! But its well presented and makes best use of space. Perfect for a few nights.
A fabulous mini-break
We booked this on the ‘winter deal’ and were not disappointed. The weather was better than forecast, so we were able to open the bi -fold doors on two days and just sit back and relax watching the world go by. The amenities in the Hut were superb (thank you for my birthday goodies!), not that we used the oven or hob! The Clipper next door saw to that! It was fun trying to get into the bed on the mezzanine floor; we had sussed it by the 3rd night! As a previous reviewer stated, it does get hot up there, so we too turned off the towel radiator at night. The Hut was also very clean, so thank you to the Housekeeper. We don’t relish your job of re-making the upstairs bed! We walked all around Shaldon, walked to Teignmouth across Shaldon bridge and caught the ferry back to Shaldon and spent money in the boutique shops. Shaldon is a little gem, not far from our home and is a place that we will certainly visit again. We would also not hesitate in staying in Beach Hut No. 1 again. All in all, a fabulous mini-break. Thank you.

Little Gem
We have always enjoyed our many stays in Beach Hut 1 whatever time of year. The Hut is well equipped, very clean and comfortable and very tastefully decorated at Christmas. It has great views across the Teign Estuary and the perfect setting to watch the world go by. A little gem in the lovely village of Shaldon.

My son and I love stopping in these quirky, stylishly fitted and decorated beach huts! We ate far too much great food at the friendly Clipper Cafe, relaxed on the beach, and ate dinner as the sun set on our own patio. The beach hut is well stocked with good quality crockery, cutlery, with all the facilities you need. Great wifi too!
